Long & Foster Real Estate, the nation’s No. 1  privately owned residential real estate company, has named Gary Cuff as the managing broker of its Fairfax office. Cuff is a well-respected member of the real estate and business communities, known for his rock solid reputation, high ethical standards and innovative leadership style. He brings several decades of combined experience in real estate, marketing and advertising to his new position.

“I look forward to joining the Long & Foster family and leading the team of exceptional real estate professionals in its Fairfax sales office,” said Cuff. “Long & Foster is known for providing its agents the best tools, technology and training available, and I’m confident that with the company’s exceptional support and my real estate expertise, our office and agents will achieve even greater success in real estate.”

Cuff, a native Floridian who moved to the D.C. metro area in 1996, brings a wealth of proven business, leadership and real estate experience to his new position at Long & Foster. He began his career in real estate sales in 1998, and after seven years as a successful associate broker with two local franchises, he earned a position as Regional Director for a Phoenix-based international real estate brokerage. There, Cuff was responsible for the launching and oversight of the firm’s Mid-Atlantic offices, as well as providing marketing and training support throughout the region. In this capacity, Cuff led 13 offices and hundreds of agents. Additionally, he served as the Principal Broker for the brokerage’s office in Vienna, Virginia. After six years in that position, he launched his own brokerage, Cuff & Company Realtors, in 2011. As he looked toward the future, he recognized the opportunities to grow his personal career and even better support buyers, sellers and agents as part of the Long & Foster team.

Throughout his real estate career, Cuff has enjoyed many successes. He has been a consistent recipient of numerous company and industry awards in recognition of his high standards and productivity, including being named a lifetime member of Multi-Million Dollar Sales Club by the Northern Virginia Association of Realtors (NVAR).

In addition to his real estate career, Cuff has more than two decades of experience in advertising and marketing in the direct mail industry. He led the graphics department at the national headquarters for Val-Pak Direct Marketing Systems, the largest direct mail firm in the nation, for 12 years. Cuff left Val-Pak to accept the position of Director of the Digital Imaging Service Center with Cadmus Journal Services, the largest producer of technical, medical and scientific journals in the world.  In a return to advertising and marketing, Cuff then spent more than seven years as the Senior Vice President for United Marketing Solutions. In these positions, Cuff was responsible for multi-million dollar budgets, development and implementation of new technologies, scheduling, quality control, capital expenditure decisions, establishment of performance standards, direct supervision and full responsibility for hundreds of employees and staff members, and multiple plant expansions and relocations.

“It takes a highly knowledgeable and experienced leader to help real estate agents achieve success in today’s competitive environment,” said Larry “Boomer” Foster, president of Long & Foster Real Estate. “We are confident that naming Gary to the helm of our Fairfax office will help us continue to do just that. This is how our company has helped local buyers and sellers meet their homeownership goals for nearly 50 years and how we’ll continue to do so in the years to come.”

Cuff is a graduate of St. Petersburg College, where he received his associate’s degree, and he studied business management at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. He holds a seat on the Board of Directors and serves as Executive Director for Gin Dance Company, a non-profit performing arts company based in Fairfax County. He is a certified mentor of the Buffini & Company Real Estate System and currently holds brokers’ licenses in Maryland, D.C. and Virginia. Cuff is a long-term member of NVAR, the Greater Capital Area Association of Realtors, the Virginia Association of Realtors and the National Association of Realtors.
