About 46 million homes in the United States are owned by people age 55 and older, with 32 million of those owned by boomers, according to Fannie Mae’s The Coming Exodus of Older Homeowners report. As this population ages, an increasing number of them will need assistance navigating the path of downsizing or right-sizing and marketing their homes.

Anna Greves, an associate broker who recently joined Long & Foster Real Estate’s Alexandria/Old Town Historic District office in Alexandria, Virginia, understands those needs. For the past 10 years, Greves has devoted her full attention to working with seniors.

Greves crafted a program to assist seniors as they downsize, coordinating the services of Realtors, organizers, contractors, movers and other carefully selected providers that can help relieve the stress of the downsizing process. Now she’s bringing it to Long & Foster as Elite Concierge: Care-free solutions for all seasons of life.

“At the point in life when someone is ready to downsize, they often have a home with many years’ worth of belongings that perhaps hasn’t been updated or renovated in a number of years,” Greves said. “There’s so much to do and go through to prepare their home for sale.”

The process begins with a client consultation that addresses recommended changes they can make to the home they plan to sell. The focus is on making the most of their time and money to get the best results from the sale of the home. It also includes a comprehensive moving plan tailored to the clients’ needs.

“Frequently, home sellers making this transition need guidance and for someone to walk them through the process to help them find the right solutions for their circumstances,” Greves said.

Michael Manuel, who has been a Realtor with Long & Foster’s Alexandria/Old Town Historic District office for 15 years, has worked with Greves since she began providing her services to seniors.

“I’m so happy Anna chose to bring her program to Long & Foster,” Manuel said. “Many of us that have worked with her over the last decade have been Long & Foster agents, so this allows us to keep that experienced team together and take advantage of the company’s excellent market share.”

Greves, along with her team of Long & Foster agents and home service providers, are offering the Elite Concierge program in the Northern Virginia, Washington, D.C., and suburban Maryland area. They plan to bring the program to more Long & Foster offices in the company’s markets.

In addition to one-on-one complimentary consultations, the Elite Concierge team offers presentations on their program to the senior community at civic group meetings, churches, living centers and other locations at no cost.
