The Board of Visitors for Children’s National Health System’s annual Care for Kids fundraiser starts on Oct. 22 and shopping passes are currently available for purchase.

Long & Foster Real Estate, the nation’s No. 1 independent brand, is sponsoring the fundraiser for the sixth consecutive year. Care for Kids is one of the Washington, D.C., area’s most popular charity shopping pass fundraisers. By donating $50 for a Care for Kids shopping pass, local residents enjoy a 20-percent discount at participating Care for Kids merchants during the Oct. 22 to 28 shopping days as well as support Children’s National, which receives 100 percent of the proceeds from the shopping pass sales.

“Since our founding 50 years ago, Long & Foster has been dedicated to giving back to the communities in which we live and work, and that’s why we are thrilled to once again support the Board of Visitors in their annual Care for Kids fundraiser,” said Jeffrey S. Detwiler, president and CEO of The Long & Foster Companies, parent company of Long & Foster Real Estate. “Children’s National has helped so many individuals in our area through its pediatric health services, and it’s our privilege to support them in furthering their mission.”

Care for Kids shopping passes cost $50 and are available to purchase online at the Board of Visitors website and at most participating retailers. Many Long & Foster offices in the Washington, D.C., metro area will also have shopping passes available to purchase.

This year, over 70 shops, boutiques and restaurants are participating in Care for Kids, including Georgetown Cupcake, Bloomingdale’s, The Container Store, Pottery Barn, Tory Burch and Sur La Table, among many others. View the complete list at Care for Kids List of Merchants 2018.
