Monica Florio has been named as the managing broker of the Tysons office of Long & Foster Real Estate in Tysons, Virginia. Florio, who brings nearly a decade of real estate expertise to her new position, had been leading the Tysons office on an interim basis since last year and previously worked as a sales manager at that location.

Florio joined Long & Foster’s Fairfax Centre sales office in Fairfax, Virginia, in 2010 as a sales associate and built a successful business, helping area buyers and sellers. Florio was later named as sales manager in Fairfax Centre, before moving to that same position in Tysons. As a manager, Monica focuses on education and training, helping ensure her team has the tools and resources need to achieve success.

“I am very excited to lead Long & Foster’s Tysons office,” Florio said. “Having worked with the company for so many years, I’ve seen the unbeatable support that Long & Foster and its management team provides to its family of sales associates, and I’m confident with Long & Foster’s backing and my dedication to our associates, our team in Tysons will be able to achieve even greater success in the business”

In 2017, Florio recruited 17 agents to join the sales team in the Tysons office. Her future plans for the office include building strong relationships with area businesses and holding events in her office so that their agents can give back to the community by sharing their industry knowledge and expertise.

She credits Valasie August, who leads Long & Foster’s office in Fairfax Centre, with guiding her career development in real estate, noting August served as an incredible mentor for her. “The lessons I learned from her help me every day in this job. She taught me that my focus should always be on what I can do to help the agents get to where they want to be,” Florio said. “Also, thanks to Boomer Foster and Dontae Carroll, I received top-notch training and support to prepare me to be an effective coach and leader.”

“Monica has a wealth of experience and knowledge as a leader, and for many years she has used that expertise to support Long & Foster’s real estate professionals in achieving success in their careers,” said Larry “Boomer” Foster, president of Long & Foster Real Estate. “We know that her guidance and insights will greatly benefit the agents at our Tysons office. Her dedication to the industry and community also will help us continue to grow our business in the Tysons area.”
