Real estate brokerage gives back to local communities for 21st annual event

Thousands of real estate agents and employees with Long & Foster Real Estate, including those at the Severna Park office in Severna Park, Maryland, rolled up their sleeves and took part in the company’s 21st annual Community Service Day. Long & Foster’s Community Service Day took place at its over 220 locations throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast. The annual event provides an opportunity for Long & Foster agents and staff to give back to their communities through a variety of service projects, including food drives, park clean-ups and more.

This being Chesapeake Bay Awareness week, the Severna Park office chose to volunteer with The Chesapeake Bay Foundation’s Oyster Restoration Center on June 13th. Agents and office staff shoveled shells into sorting bins, shook out the debris and shoveled clean oysters into a number of large steel cages for boat transport and spreading in bay tributaries.  This process assisted in the bay’s future development and in the reclaiming of approximately one million oysters in the bay system.

“Community Service Day is a vitally important component of Long & Foster’s corporate culture of giving,” said Jeff Detwiler, president and CEO of The Long & Foster Companies, the parent company of Long & Foster Real Estate. “Our team gains a tremendous sense of satisfaction by contributing their time and efforts to the communities in which we live and work.”
