Annual event allows real estate agents, brokerage to give back to the local community

The Old Ivy office of Long & Foster Real Estate, the No. 1 independent residential real estate brand in the United States*, will participate in the company’s 21st annual Community Service Day on June 6. The Old Ivy office in Charlottesville, Virginia, will join the brokerage’s over 220 offices in the day of giving back by volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House to plant flowers and cook a meal for the house families.

“Long & Foster Real Estate is always striving to find ways to give back to our Charlottesville community. In addition to our agents making time in their busy schedules to provide dinner for the Ronald McDonald House families bi-monthly, they also wanted to honor Community Service Day by adding some cheer and sunshine to the families’ stay by planting flowers to brighten up their back deck,” said Rachel Foster, broker of the Old Ivy office.

Long & Foster sales associates and employees from throughout the company will participate in a variety of volunteer activities during Community Service Day. In past years, these activities included cleaning up, refurbishing and repairing nearby parks, schools, shelters, homes and day care centers, and providing other assistance to local organizations that offer crucial services to the community.

“Since our founding in 1968, we’ve been dedicated to giving back to the communities in which we live and work, and our annual Community Service Day event is one example of how we do that,” said Jeff Detwiler, president and CEO of The Long & Foster Companies, parent company of Long & Foster Real Estate. “Community Service Day allows our team to make a positive impact on our local communities, and our agents and employees thoroughly enjoy this opportunity to contribute their time and effort. Whether it’s through our annual Community Service Day or one of our other charitable projects, we’re truly glad to give back.”
