Real estate brokerage gives back to local communities for 21st annual event

Thousands of real estate agents and employees with Long & Foster Real Estate, including those at the Grove office in Richmond, VA, rolled up their sleeves and took part in the company’s 21st annual Community Service Day on June 6. Long & Foster’s Community Service Day took place at its over 220 locations throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast. The annual event provides an opportunity for Long & Foster agents and staff to give back to their communities through a variety of service projects, including food drives, park clean-ups and more.

The Grove office chose to volunteer with Jones & Jones Assisted Living, a residential facility for the disabled, by having a cookout for its residents on June 6. “We donated three picnic tables to the facility, collected over 500 dollars and grilled approximately 200 hot dogs,” said Marianne Donahue, an agent from the Grove office that spearheaded the event. “We had food, fun and music.  Cooking for them, serving them, and chatting with them made it a special day for all involved.”

“Community Service Day is a vitally important component of Long & Foster’s corporate culture of giving,” said Jeff Detwiler, president and CEO of The Long & Foster Companies, the parent company of Long & Foster Real Estate. “Our team gains a tremendous sense of satisfaction by contributing their time and efforts to the communities in which we live and work.”
